The Papal Mass at Bellahouston Park on Thursday 16 September
If you wish to be considered for a place, please complete the yellow slip TODAY and hand it in to the sacristy. Please use one yellow slip per person, even one for each child you wish to be considered for a place.
Please note these important considerations before filling out a yellow slip: The Mass begins at 5.15pm, but all pilgrims need to be in place at 3pm (so there will be a lot of waiting). Transport to the event is being arranged centrally and we will be advised soon of travel arrangements. You can't just turn up on the day. In order to cover the costs of transport, the pilgrim pack and administration, a contribution of £20 per person is being asked for. Do not pay any money yet! If you wish to attend the event but cannot afford the £20, do not let this stop you applying. Let me know (in complete confidence) and we will arrange for the fee to be paid. If you would be willing to pay the £20 (as an anonymous gift) for another pilgrim if this becomes necessary, please also let me know.
The Mass will conclude by 7.30pm. However, due to the large numbers attending, it will take a long time to empty the park, and by 7.30pm it will be dark. The park will be exposed and there will be no weather protection. You must be able to ensure you can cope with this. Seating will not be provided.
No separate allocation of tickets is being made for children of primary school age. Parents wishing to take their children to Bellahouston are more than welcome but each child, (including infants) must have a pilgrim pass. Tickets have been allocated on a pro rata basis to each parish in the country, based on the numbers attending Sunday Mass. Judging by those who have applied for tickets we will have plenty for our parishes.
